On the Job for Victory - WW1 by Unknown

US World War 1 poster in colors; backed on linen; Alpha Litho Co, NY. words: “On the Job for Victory, United States Shipping Board Emergency Fleet Corporation”. President Woodrow Wilson signed the Shipping Act into law in 1916. It was designed to rebuild America's merchant fleet. Upon entering the war in 1917, the Shipping Board took possession of all the German ships that had been harboring in America's previously neutral ports. This, together with the Emergency Fleet's stepped up production of new ships, recovered America's status as a great maritime nation. By the end of the war, America's fleet grew by 60 percent.
